The internet, coupled with the prevalence of video cameras in this day and age, have made it more and more difficult for police officers to act like stuck-up pricks on a Napoleonic power trip, but it hasn’t stopped them completely. Videos like this one tangibly show the arrogance of power, and why police, military, and anyone given authority by society (or private enterprises) need to be carefully monitored, and stripped of such power as soon as they show any tendency to abuse it. In this case, how can anyone in their right mind think that a soap bubble implies an attack? Even the cop standing next to this thug looks incredulous. And here I was thinking all Canadian cops were cute mounties with their British-red coats and pretty horses!
