Katrina + 5: ‘The Big Uneasy’ Documentary by Harry Shearer (video)

Harry Shearer is not only a treasured character voice on The Simpson’s, he’s also a proud and long-term resident of New Orleans. Shearer has been very outspoken in the five years following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast in 2005. To mark the fifth anniversary of Katrina, Harry is releasing a scathing documentary titled The Big Uneasy, focusing attention on the Army Corps of Engineers and the failure of the levees as the real reason for the death toll when 80% of New Orleans flooded after the storm.

The film features fellow resident John Goodman (Treme), along with officials, experts and citizens who point out that the Army Corps is currently using the same failed technology and flawed methods responsible for the levee failure to rebuild the new system that is expected to protect New Orleans from future peril.

The Big Uneasy will be shown in 150 theaters on one night only, Monday, August 30. Check here for a theater near you.
