Louisiana Approved for Health Program While Suing Obama to Stop Plan

Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.)

Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal continues to oppose President Obama’s health-care reform while also applying for benefits under the program that would help provide coverage for early retirees who are not yet old enough to receive Medicare benefits. In fact, Louisiana is one of several states currently suing Obama to stop health-care reform.

In fact, Louisiana has just been approved for federal funds to provide those benefits to early retirees.

Speaking to The Times-Picayune, Jindal spokeswoman Melissa Sellers said:

“The Obama health-care legislation is awful and will harm the quality of health care in America…[but Jindal] won’t penalize Louisiana retirees from accessing funds available through the flawed legislation.”

What a hypocrite! Governor Bobby has proven himself to be completely ineffective and inept at governing Louisiana, focusing his attention on strengthening his resume with conservatives for a future run at national office, rather than doing what is necessary to deal practically and realistically with the problems that face the state following the BP oil spill, challenges with unemployment and education, while also cutting mental health programs for adolescents who still suffer from the trauma of Hurricane Katrina.

God save the great state of Louisiana from this charlatan.
