Jan Brewer Yanks Advertising From CBS Affiliate Over Ongoing Investigation

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has pulled all her campaign advertisements from a local CBS affiliate in retaliation for an ongoing investigation into a possible conflict of interest over her support for the notorious “papers please” anti-immigration bill HB1070. Several advisors on Brewer’s staff have connections to the Corrections Corporation of America, a company that owns and operates private prison facilities in Arizona and elsewhere. The corporation stands to profit handsomely from victims of the anti-immigration bill championed by Brewer.

When the Rachel Maddow Show inquired as to why the ads were pulled, the Brewer camp admitted that it was due to “aggressive reporting” by the CBS affiliate KPHO-TV in Phoenix.

There is no reason for Brewer to object to an independent investigation if she has nothing to hide. And honestly, who would admit to such a petty attempt to chastise a company for airing a bit of unfavorable news? Thin-skinned Jan Brewer is who. Let’s hope voters in Arizona send that spiteful old fraud packing come election time, as a prelude to overturning that shameful law.

And kudos to KPHO-TV for their hard work. Now they have confirmation that they are on to something. We will watch closely for what the investigation turns up.
