Ohio resident Brent Whitehouse awoke Sunday to discover his barn on fire and called 911, but the call for help came to0 late for his seven adult horses and one foal who were burned alive in what authorities are classifying as an act of arson, but have yet to classify it also as a hate crime despite the fact that the arson or arsonists spray painted “fags are freaks” on the barn and Whitehouse happens to be a gay man.
Whitehouse told WHIZ news:
“I couldn’t get the door open I could still hear the horses kicking and I tried as hard as I could to get them out and I just couldn’t get them out in time.”
Bobbie Nelson, who is a friend of Whitehouse, said, “They obviously don’t know him very well, because he’s a sweet-hearted person and how he lives his lifestyle is nobody’s business but his own.”

What an upsetting story. I feel very bad for Mr. Whitehouse; both the victim of a hate crime and having to live with the fact that 8 of his beautiful horses were killed in ignorance. Hopefully the criminals are found and will be charged with arson, a hate crime, and animal cruelty.
