Colbert: Rick Perry Erases Line Between Church/State (VIDEO)

Stephen Colbert took a master swipe at Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) and his “Response” rally taking place in Houston next month. As you know, Perry has invited some of the most vile, conspiratorial and offensive Christian speakers to join him in Houston. But Colbert reminded us why we really, really shouldn’t vote for him:

“We haven’t had a Texas governor in the White House for almost three years! Think of all the uncleared brush we’ve built up!”

Does the idea of another Texan president turn anyone else’s stomach besides mine?

Moving on…

Stephen then took aim at Perry’s rally, The Response, taking place on August 6th, and the supposed point of the rally:

“Governor Perry knows that that prayer is the only way to fix our problems, folks. As he told a group of donors, with the tough challenges facing America, It’s time to just hand it over to God and say, ‘God, you’re gonna have to fix this.’ Inspiring words. Perry has looked at our problems squarely in the eye and said, ‘I got nothin’.’”

Of course he doesn’t. Neither do any of the other Republican morons.

Stephen then took “issue” with the Atheist criticism of Perry’s attendance at the event. They have claimed it violates the separation of church and state, which Stephen points out is completely inaccurate:

“The Response rally is open to everyone! Its website clearly states that, ‘People of all ages, races and backgrounds will be in attendance to proclaim Jesus as Savior.’ See? It doesn’t cross the line between church and state, it erases it.”

Because Rick Perry is “tight with God” who has called him to run.

But God himself seems to have a bad case of memory loss, because he’s also called Michele Bachmann and Tim Pawlenty to run.

Maybe God should keep a log to keep track of his calls in the future so he doesn’t look like such a flippin’ airhead…
