Can anyone tell me if there is a bigger douchebag than Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) in these here United States of America? Because, I do not think there is. The man takes top honors in Republican dickishness and assholery, and every time he opens his pie-hole, you get this sickening feeling of déjà vu, because you think you’ve heard his particular brand of horseshit before, and chances are you have.
On the Senate floor Monday, Kyl engaged in the Republican’s favorite pastime: Bash the Middle Class. From Talking Points Memo:
The top Republican vote counter in the Senate says extending the expiring payroll tax holiday is a terrible idea and he’ll only do it if Democrats agree to major concessions — in particular, simultaneously extending all the Bush tax cuts, which are scheduled to expire just over a year from now.
On the Senate floor Monday, Sen. Jon Kyl argued that reducing the payroll tax doesn’t stimulate the economy — a claim most economists disagree with — and criticized the Democrats’ plan to offset the cost of the tax holiday with a small surtax on millionaires.
“We should therefore only do it under circumstances that in effect override these objections, one of which would be to extend all of the taxes that expire at the end of next year — at the end of 2012,” Kyl said. “That would be a good idea.”
This on the heels of an anemic jobs report that showed that over 315,000 Americans have simply dropped out of the labor force and stopped looking for work, and many of the jobs created were actually lower-paying and/or seasonal jobs that leave millions more under-employed and hurting financially.
I honestly don’t know how people like Kyl sleep at night, but then I remember Kyl is simply one liar among many, who has no qualms in misleading his so-called constituents with blatant out-and-out lies – that are entered into the Congressional record, no less.
It’s a good thing he’s retiring, because his sorry ass should have been fired ages ago. He’s a disgrace.
