
So much has been said already about the right-wing’s unholy alliance with the religious conservatives in a trumped-up ‘war on religion’ waged by the Obama administration over the availability of contraception in religious businesses and institutions that employ the general public. But as a progressive and extremely socially liberal male, I felt the need to do more than just pay lip service to the cause against this infringement on a woman’s body. I had to make sure I understood the depth and breadth of contraception among American women.
I didn’t have to look far. Luckily, Mother Jones laid it all out for me based on two of the most reliable sources you could have on birth control and contraception use in America: The Guttmacher Institute and The Center for Disease Control.
Among the facts, formulas, and graphs is this one basic truth on why the Right will fail in their attacks on a woman’s right to choose what she does with her own body:
