Those who have followed Veracity Stew for the past couple of years and read my posts know that I have had public battles with conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart. But I am shocked at the news this morning that Andrew died in Los Angeles early this morning from “natural causes.”
The news was initially greeted with great skepticism but was eventually confirmed via ABC News and representatives of the Breitbart family.
The Huffington Post reported:
Breitbart’s father-in-law told the Associated Press that Breitbart was walking near his house when he collapsed. Someone saw him fall and called 911. Breitbart was taken to UCLA Medical Center, but could not be revived.
The news came shortly after midnight via Breitbart’s blog:
“With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart.
“We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.”
Breitbart, 43, was a polarizing and controversial figure. He was instrumental in helping to launch the Huffington Post, contributed to the Drudge Report and eventually launched his own websites: BigGovernment.com, BigJournalism.com, and BigHollywood.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Susie, and their four children.
