There is a popular hastag trend on Twitter: #ToMyUnbornChild. The Tweets are typically sweet, charming and special ways expectant parents can express messages to their unborn child. But earlier this week the trend included more than 100 horrifying Tweets from individuals who said they would murder their child if he/she were born gay.
The Twitter account @homphobes, which tracks and exposes homophobic actions on social media, put together this “storified” collection of the most offensive tweets (thanks to The New Civil Rights Movement):

I can’t believe these sick people. Are these the same people who murder doctors who have to help a woman who might die over a medical condition..( but to the right crazy GOP they’re “baby killers, even if the cells/fetus kills the mother”)..Abortion doctors they’ll kill, gays they’ll kill..What kind of “morality” do these people claim to have? WHO or WHAT kind of parent taught their child to hate so much, as to say such ignorant, foolish and violent things, and on line too?? Amazing how sick the GOP have become..This hateful group is the new right wing GOP, “christian Taliban”..and yet these people would also kill a Muslim just because to them..and their ignorance,..”All Muslim’s to them are evil”..This kind of mentality should be a wake up call to all America. We have failed miserably to end hatred, racism, to stop bigotry, and we are guilty for not ending this hatred, racism and the lies to millions daily on networks like FOX.. This is the result of their GOP promotions of racism and hatred daily on Fox, the GOP divide. The appeal of Fox to the rabid, the ignorant, the hatred sick people ( some of who are now also running for President of the United States) has to end!! They haven’t even the decency to even be embarrassed by this kind of sick. Media is a joke and has failed America miserably in making this known, or warning people.
Key to the GOP strategy is relying on our schools to keep teaching about Jefferson, Lincoln and others greats of their party. This creates a belief system that is shouted out loud on the streets but denied in their actual behavior. The emperor has no clothes but the illusion of morons and the fear they strike in those around them with their lack of reason and tendencies to violence regarding anything they don’t understand or find threatening, like having a child who is gay.
Having said that, Twitter and all social media need to be more responsible and remove hate language like shown above.

There might be a joke or two but that would be a very sick and twisted sense of humor.
I concur with the “sick joke” theory. These sound like they were made up by drunken frat boys who (a) don’t think they’ll ever have the responsibility of raising a child, and (b) think that they’re not really homophobes if they act like they’re joking about it.
We understand. Some people find it very difficult to believe that there are genuinely ignorant, hateful and dangerous individuals out there like this.
