The Republicans are feeling the heat and backlash in response to their relentless attempts to roll back the clock on women’s rights in America. A few days ago, they tried to blame President Obama for waging a war on women, a claim that fell flat with those of us who know better. Now, desperate to change the tide of public opinion against them on a national and state level, the GOP is trotting out women like Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) to claim that the whole “war on women” is a distraction by Democrats to get voter’s attention off economic issues. She also insisted that it was Democrats just “trying to scare American women.”

Mrs. Rodgers doubled-down on her outrageous argument on Wednesday during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Hardball” with Chris Matthews. She went further and accused the current culture war on Democrats on state levels who have passed gay marriage laws.
