There seems to be no end to conservative plutocrats intimidating average workers into financially supporting voting and voting for Mitt Romney. In this economy, the easiest way to achieve intimidation is through the pocketbooks of those fortunate enough to have jobs, with veiled (but oh so ominous) threats of cutting hours, lay offs, and even firings in the event of an Obama victory. As the Stew already reported, Murphy Energy has had a complaint filed against it for allegedly forcing miners to attend a pro-Romney rally. Now, the CEO of ASG Software Solutions, Arthur Allen, urged his employees to vote for Mitt Romney in a company email that included the phrase: “help ASG and yourself.”
Allen said in the email:
“I am encouraging everyone to go to the Romney for President web site and contribute as much as you can to his campaign for President, up to the maximum of $2500.00 per person. Please help ASG and yourself by contributing to the Romney/Ryan campaign.”
Romney and the Koch brothers, as well as other executives, have leaned on employees to support the GOP campaign for the White House. You know, for a political party that claims to be be so “pro-freedom,” these righties sure do know how to silence dissent and opposing votes with their intimidation and “my way or the highway” attitude. It’s now manifested itself into a “win at all costs” operation plan.
This is highly unethical, to say the least, and possibly even illegal.

To all ASG domestic employees,
This coming Monday, Mitt Romney will be officially nominated as the Republican Presidential candidate. I am encouraging everyone to go to the Romney for President web site and contribute as much as you can to his campaign for President, up to the maximum of $2500.00 per person. I am also encouraging you to contact all of your friends and relatives and ask them to support Romney and to go to the polls and vote on election day.
ASG, like many companies, is still struggling, even after 4 years. You probably heard that we tripped a bank leverage covenant on June 30th, and now must go through yet another round of unfavorable treatment by our lenders. Many of our domestic employees are still on the 4 day work week. Many of our customers are waiting until they see the results of the election before beginning to invest again. We need to elect a fiscally conservative President and Vice-President and stop this ridiculous government spending. I believe that Romney and Ryan can put us back on the path to sanity, but even then it is not going to be painless for our country and ASG.
Please help ASG and yourself by contributing to the Romney/Ryan campaign.
Mr. Allen

I deeply fear for this election. With voter suppression, draconia voter ID laws, corporate intimidation of employees and the deliberate or ignorant diatribes by the religious right Romney is surging in the polls. Do people really trust him and Ryan, or are they simply intimidated or swayed by the voices from the pulpit and their CEO’s. I have been voting for 50+ years and I have never seen our democracy is such a vulnable situation. The Democrats are not perfect, by far, but at least they stand on a platform of progressive values while Republicans have become the party of the right-wing, anti-democratic and corporate control model of “Democracy.” If Obama looses this election and Congress remains controlled by Tea Party “Patriots” I foresee a hard right turn towards a very facist America.
