When Any Fool Gets a Gun: 19 ‘Second Amendment’ Fails (VIDEO)

Patriotic Defender of the 2nd Amendment...or an idiot with a gun?

Patriotic Defender of the 2nd Amendment…or an idiot with a gun?

Once upon a time the National Rifle Association was a responsible advocacy group for gun safety and training. That was before the weapons manufacturers and blood-lusting vampires took over the organization and perverted it into the warped and destructive abomination it is today. This video collection of “gun enthusiasts” proves once and for all that America is in dire need of an enema…and a return to effective background checks to protect the rest of us from these morons.

……….and any fool can vote. Depicting every gun owner as some hillbilly gomer is disingenuine and narrow-minded. Bill Maher and Senator Feinstein – two champions of the anti-gun crowd – both carry. Are they both barefoot and whistlin’ ‘Dixie’ as well?

    • feisty says:

And depicting all gun owners as responsible citizens who do not need laws or controls is also disingenuous and dangerous.

      • Stew Steve says:

False equivalency. Same old, same old.

        • nick sykes says:

I beg to differ with regard to your retort as my argument being a false equivalency. If voters can be led and have their opinions skewed like consumers who are trying to decide which brand of detergent is best to use, I can easily become the victim of the politics of the unenlightened, unmeritorious and uninformed; on the other hand, my owning a gun has an infintestimal chance of effecting yours or anyone else;s life.

Thank you for your discourse regarding this topic. It’s much appreciated. I tend to gravitate to people with differing opnions instead of those who tend to agree with me. The latter experience does nothing to enlighten or expand on a topic from a different perspective.

      • nick sykes says:

The vast majority are responsible. If this wasn’t the case then incidents like Sandy Hook would be as common as drunk driving – yet they don’t ban YOUR car if someone kills someone else with theirs…..

        • Stew Steve says:

Nick – come one. You’re going to have to try harder to make a NEW argument.
It’s a false equivalency to relate drunk driving to mass murder with ASSAULT WEAPONS.
It’s a fool’s errand to chase after something that would excuse responsible background checks, enforcement, and limitation on those MASSIVE magazines.
BTW – No, they don’t ban your car when you kill someone behind the wheel. But at least society feels a tad-bit comfortable knowing that there are responsible, established, and enforceable State and Federal laws that require a DRIVER’S TEST, Sobriety Checks, Speed Limits, Safety Signs, etc. And unless you plow through (God forbid) a bus full of 100 senior citizens returning from Atlantic City –killing all of them — you aren’t going to wreck lives, spread carnage, and inflict trauma the way a fool with an AK47 is when he decides to shoot up a movie theatre, bus station, mall, or perhaps a Kindergarten class?

          • nick sykes says:

As far as the drunk driving analogy is concerned, the fact that you can take a driving test sober one day and then get drunk and drive the next and kill someone nullifies the false assurance of any regulatory agency oversight. The same is also true with guns. Thieves, muggers and other assorted nefarious elements are never gonna’ take any tests or be burdened by any regulatory agencies or gun laws in THEIR pursuit of a firearm.
These individuals who go on gun-crazed rampages aren’t just fools who have had too much to drink or are suffering the exagerrated trauma of a broken relationship. The overwhelming majority of these people were on FDA approved anti-depressant or anti-psychotic drugs yet not enough emphasis is put on this fact. Even Michael Moore has come out and admitted that the liberal (that’s liberal with a small ” L”) dispensation of these deadly drugs has a direct bearing and a correlation to all these tragedies.
All this is moot anyway Steve as no government official will ever give gun confiscation anything more than lip service. It’s never gonna’ happen. You may take away people’s civil right’s and launch illegal pre-emptive wars by having lawmakers do the ‘two-step’ around the Constitution using flowery language and bent logic. People have become more or less helpless to these transgressions; however, when it comes to guns you have to have someone physically wrest them from you. No spineless politician will ever do that directly without triggering violence on a massive scale.
Lastly, one has to admit that with the overwhelming number of guns that are out there, it’s absolutely remarkable that each of these gunowner’s would be more prone in doing more harm to themselves than to anyone else. In a skewed fashion, I’m sure every Liberal’s dream is to have gun owners become the victim of their own guns; for the most part though it will remain a statistical anamolie.
I have no great passion for firearms although I own one. I’ve had two seperate experiences where possessing a firearm prevented me and my family from bodily harm and/or thwarting a robbery. After that occurred, the gun went safely back into storage. There is a need for guns; I wish that wasn’t the case, but unfortunately it is. Evil isn’t the result of just owning a firearm but rather a result of behavior – the weapon itself is just an inanimate tool.

            • Stew Steve says:

Nick – I know you have been engaged with our content in the past, and I have always appreciated when someone informed and rational like yourself, offers a vigorous debate on a topic. I’m glad that you didn’t take insult to my passionate defense.
I rarely comment on my own posts, allowing readers to carry the debate forward, but I engaged you because of your commitment to a view opposite my own .
I do not come by my feelings on weapons easily. However, I’m glad that there are responsible gun owners like you out there.
BTW – I did take exception to your labeling the video “hillbilly.” That’s inaccurate. If you look at the full collection of clips, they are representative of various regions, cultures, and in their ‘original’ use of the weapons (hunting vs. drunk displays, etc.)
              Thank you.
              S.

          Nick
Your use of passive aggressive notions are boring . You are not intimidating me or scaring me with your child like comparisons of DUI regulations vs gun owners.
Im going to educate you nick. Just because you can afford a gun just means your a lousy consumer. A15 cheap knock off. They look scary but you would be lucky to get off 5 rounds before it jambs or overheats and deforms. So how are you going to defend liberty with a ar15 knock off? You should face your fears nick. Your scared and don’t know what to do except threaten your fellow citizens. Were not scared . Get help!

    • Stew Steve says:

No one mentioned Hillbilly but you Nick. We simply presented a montage of 19 examples of fools who should never be allowed to own a weapon. If you see a larger implication, or are insulted by the depiction, then the problem might be with your perspective.

      • nick sykes says:

So this story was really nothing more than a blooper real with no political undertones right?

  2. Nick, I admire your ability to explore other perspectives rather than seeking out sources that feed your already-held beliefs and opinions. Too many of us, including myself, have engaged in this form of “confirmation bias” and it’s certainly not a constructive way to view the world.
Unfortunately, the majority of people in this video are not trained in the proper way to even hold a firearm, let alone fire one, and certainly not ready for the responsibility that comes along with their “right” to carry one. Being an Army Ranger and combat vet, I can say with all sincerity that most every person in this reel is in dire need of firearm training before they’re allowed to even handle a firearm again. For a party that talks a lot about “entitlements,” today’s republicans should take a look inward. The notion that every American is “entitled” to own a firearm under the 2nd Amendment is ridiculous. And these are just a few that had a camera rolling!
Also, I’m just curious, where in the world does one live where they would have to use a firearm not once, but twice to protect their family?? Compton??
I grew up in one of the murder capitols of the country in an area where guns are as easy to obtain as a bag of groceries, and don’t know anyone that has had that much trouble with bad guys. Perhaps a visit to your real estate agent is in order, or your “protecting your family” was hearing a noise in the night and grabbing your gun. Just curious.
Also, why would you imply that all liberals wanna see gun owners hurt themselves? No one said, or even implied that, so it struck me as an odd thing to say.
I own guns, and my teenage son is trained in the safe use and storage of them.
I can guarantee that most of the idiots in this video are the same ones who are on social media vociferously defending their right to bear arms while their capacity for responsibility is in question.

  3. Lisa H says:

Nick: “my owning a gun has an infintestimal chance of effecting yours or anyone else;s life.”

Okay, if we’re going to argue that the populace owning guns en masse is a good thing, the first thing we assume about responsible gun owners is that they have been educated in the proper use and storage of their weapon. To assume this is true about all gun owners is asinine. It’s also hard to take seriously someone’s complaints about people in the video being portrayed as uneducated when their post is full of spelling and grammar errors. It’s “infinitesimal,”, “your… life” not “yours,” and there is no such word as “disingenuine.” I’m not being a grammar nazi; I’m pointing out that it’s difficult to communicate with someone when you have to decipher what they meant to say.

But your point that your gun ownership has an infinitesimal chance of affecting (not effecting) someone else’s life is just plain wrong. According to a study by Arthur Kellermann, keeping a gun in the home carries a murder risk 2.7 times greater than not keeping one. The National Rifle Association has fiercely attacked this study, but it remains valid despite its criticisms. The study found that people are 21 times more likely to be killed by someone they know than a stranger breaking into the house. Half of the murders were over arguments or romantic triangles. The study also found that the increased murder rate in gun-owning households was entirely due to an increase in gun homicides only, not any other murder method. It further found that gun-owning households saw an increased murder risk by family or intimate acquaintances, not by strangers or non-intimate acquaintances. The most straightforward explanation is that the presence of a gun increases the possibility that a normal family fight or drinking binge will become deadly. No other explanation fits the above facts.

So maybe your gun will not affect my life. But my next door neighbor’s gun might. Or my cousin’s.

The above video includes only 19 examples showing that irresponsible gun ownership leads to a distinct possibility of injury even when it does not cause death. One could hope that these people learned a lesson and made wiser decisions from then on. Somehow, I doubt it.

And about the drunk-driving analogy: when someone drives drunk and gets caught doing so before they actually do kill someone, there are consequences that can include paying fines, being jailed, having your driver’s license taken away, losing your insurance, and even impounding your car. These are all done to PREVENT a drunk driver from killing someone. Do you think any of the people in this video who were using their guns irresponsibly had any consequences that were not self-imposed? No. They still have their guns, they still have their permits (if they had one), and they can still go out and shoot people, after displaying ON VIDEO that they were not using their guns responsibly. And that’s what wrong here.

But say you are responsible with your gun. Does it make you feel safe? Even with training and target practice, most people will still not be able to defend themselves when actually faced with a shooter. It doesn’t matter whether you have a degree and wear a suit or go barefoot and whistle “Dixie” (and those 2 are not mutually exclusive btw; I live in the South). Trained policemen only hit their intended target 18% of the time. Please read this article: http://swampland.time.com/2013/01/16/your-brain-in-a-shootout-guns-fear-and-flawed-instincts/?iid=sl-article-mostpop1

The fact is, Vicki Soto, the teacher at Sandy Hook who hid her students in cabinets and such in her room and faced the shooter (and died) was more prepared than your average trained gun owner; she had the presence of mind to assess the situation quickly and react to protect her students in the best way available. If she had had a gun, maybe she would have stopped the shooter (a little late since she was the last one shot), but face-to-face and gun-to-gun might have resulted *more* students being shot.
