Rachel Maddow paid tribute to the progressive grassroots organization MoveOn.org last week. Maddow highlighted how the group sprang into action in the 90s before anyone was using the Internet for political/social organizing. The group now has more than 7 million members, can shut down the Capitol Hill switchboard with a call to action, and their former staff member, Ilyse Hogue, has been named the new President of NARAL.
Hogue hopes to bring the same cyber activism techniques, grassroots organizing, and expanding progressive database of activists, to NARAL in the ongoing War on Women.
