I find as I get older, I am becoming increasingly jaded (and apathetic). It takes a lot to shock me these days, and by the same token, it takes a lot more to make me happy. That’s why this video of Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), camera face to camera face with Sean Hannity, is such a thing of beauty. It has boosted my soul and made me a believer, once more (for the time being)!
Not only does Rep. Ellison hand Hannity’s ass to him on a platter, but he does it with such style and aplomb! And for a brief moment, my faith in political humanity is restored:
“Quite frankly, you are the worst excuse for a journalist that I’ve ever seen.”
Oh no, he DID NOT just say that, on camera, in front of millions of Fox viewers…did he?!
Oh yes he did! And he went further…
“What you just displayed was not journalism, it was yellow journalism; it wasn’t anything close to trying to tell the American people what’s really going on. And it’s just shocking.”
And that’s just the first minute!
I will concede, however, that Ellison’s claim of “shocking” is a tad overwrought and melodramatic – he needs to reel it in. Fox News has been pulling this shit for years…
But the BEST PART EVER is when Sean Hannity, card-carrying, Rupert Murdoch ass-kissing, poster-boy-for-Republican-theology SWEARS he’s NOT a Republican, but a registered “conservative.”
Is “conservative” a party option? I’ve never seen it on my ballot, but whatever…
Please proceed, Rep. Ellison (with much love!):
“The people watching your show should ignore all of the “commentary” that you put in, and all of the hyped music that you put on, and should pay attention to what the President actually said…”
Fantabulous Ellison goes on to remind Planet Republican™ of the Republican intransigence that brought about our downgrading by the oh-so-honest-and-upstanding credit agencies and our current beyond-sour pickling predicament:
“You, by the way, are inaccurate, when you say that the president is to blame here. He’s not. It was the Republicans in August of 2011 that said they were going to cause the American economy to default on debts we already acquired unless they got deep and substantial cuts. And we ended up with a downgrade because of what the Republicans did; and, after that, we set-up this thing called the super-committee, and when all of the Republican members on that super-committee had already pledged to Grover Norquist to not raise revenue – only do cuts – and then, after it failed, as it always was going to, we ended up with sequester.”
I seriously want to cry my eyeballs out…
FINALLY! Someone who remembers it the way I (AND MOST OF THE COUNTRY) DO!
He eventually gets tossed off at Hannity’s bidding, but MAN-O-MAN, did he say what needed to be said!

I would harldly classify this exchange as ‘delightful’ in any sense of the word. I can’t tell who owns who here because they’re constantly talking over each other After all was said and done, what essentially was accomplished? From what I can gather, this discussion had something to do with monetary policy; however, after watching this exchange can anyone really say they now have a better understanding of those policies? When you want to criticize Keith Ellison for being less than perfectly poised, please remember Hannity’s lead-in to the interview: a video of “Hannity Highlights showing President Panic” talk about the sequester.
If any Hannity defenders call that video ANYTHING but the yellow journalism then let ne broaden YOUR vocabulary: yellow journalism – noun – Journalism that exploits, distorts, or exaggerates the news to create sensations and attract readers.
Too many critics of Ellison are taking his remarks out of the context, as if he stormed into the interview planning to give his shout out, when he reacted like any human being who had just had yellow journalism incarnate thrown in his face.
