It’s been a difficult year for the right-wing religious organization Focus On The Family. The homophobic group based in Colorado is facing a $3 million budget deficit and, as a result will be laying off 40 workers and making changes within their organization.
The current layoffs will leave Focus with about 640 total employees, down from 1,400 staff members employed there in 2002.
Paul Batura, Focus’ vice president of communications, gave his spin on the loss to The Gazette:
“These types of decisions are extremely difficult, because behind all the budgetary numbers are the names of dedicated and loyal team members. We’re a very close team here at Focus.”
The Stew’s Spin: There’s just less profit in peddling hate as society moves forward on social issues like same-sex marriage, inclusion, and equality.
That’s a good thing.
