We Serve It, Even When It's Hard To Swallow
If I had any sympathy for conservative douchebags like Rupert Murdoch, I’d almost feel sorry for the man. Alas, I don’t. And you shouldn’t either. The media mogul and professional propagandist has had this coming to him for decades, and karma, quite frankly, is an unforgiving bitch.
Yes, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner can be a funny affair, but in many ways it furthers the destructive trend of “info-tainment,” blurring the lines between news and entertainment and creating an alliance between reporters and politicians that isn’t very healthy for a democracy.

It looks like the British Parliament is set to make an example of Murdoch after the phone hacking scandal brought shame upon their land, their government and their police force. The Associated Press is reporting that lawmakers within Parliament have issued a stinging indictment against the media mogul.
This video is about a month and a half old, but it just hit my Facebook news timeline, and it made me think of its importance in understanding today’s news media. Last night, Jon Stewart tackled the growing scandal over the GSA – General Services Committee – and their ungodly spending spree in Las Vegas in 2010, which racked up a bill close to $1 million for American taxpayers, including $4 on average for one shrimp. While this is certainly a prime example of corruption within our government, Fox News, namely Bill O’Reilly, as expected, has been making the biggest stink, which Stewart admitted was “totally legitimate.”
Fox News weekend host Heather Childers is under fire from the public and media watchdog group Media Matters after she tweeted on Tuesday: “Thoughts? Did Obama Campaign Threaten Chelsea Clinton’s Life 2 Keep Parents Silent?” The tweet was linked to a blog that believes President Obama’s birth certificate is a fraud.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from or about Sarah Palin, since she’s been relegated to the airwaves of Fox News, a channel that no thinking person could possibly stomach, and, quite frankly, there are more important things going on in the world than the lunatic ravings of a self-serving media troll, so most of us kind of forgot about her.

It’s been so long since I’ve actually watched CNN that I’d forgotten how terrible they’ve become. Cable news in itself has a propensity to be fairly bad, but CNN has perfected the art of awful. They really do suck, and Jon Stewart has a new bee in his bonnet to remind us all just how much they suck.
