Trayvon Martin and Fox News: All You Need to Know in One Little Graph

Fox-News-logo_where-truth-dies

If you’re going to include the word “news” in your name, shouldn’t you actually be concerned with reporting the news? Apparently, that doesn’t apply to Fox News. Case in point: from the time of Trayvon Martin’s death on February 26 through March 19, those bastions of all things “fair and balanced” at Murdoch’s propaganda machine carried only ONE segment regarding the teen’s murder, even while the story was being examined from every perspective by major newspapers, news outlets, magazines and social media.

Jon Stewart on Lawrence O’Donnell’s ‘Empty Chair’ Interview (VIDEO)

Lawrence ODonnell_Zimmerman lawyer

Jon Stewart offered a lighthearted commentary Tuesday night on MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell’s outrage after Craig Sooner, the lawyer in the George Zimmerman case, left the studio just minutes before he was scheduled to be interviewed on live television. O’Donnell resorted to interviewing an empty chair and called the attorney a “coward” more than once.

Stewart vs Fox News

Alas, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is on hiatus this week…I know, it’s a rough and tumble world…

But their legendary team of splicers and dicers have graced us with their mash-ups of conflicts long past…or current, as the case may be.

Fox News Host Denies Network’s Racist Past with President Obama (VIDEO)

Fox News says they can't find one example where they called Obama a Muslim.

Fox News host Bret Baier on Monday actually had the nerve to claim that his network has never claimed, hinted or suggested that President Obama is a Muslim. Baier was commenting on the claim in David Corn’s new book, “Showdown,” which the journalist recounts a meeting with the President where Obama allegedly stated that Fox News was responsible for his low rankings among white men because “they hear Obama is a Muslim 24/7…”

Should Liberals Question Ed Schultz’s Union Ties?

Ed-Schulz_official-pic

Last week it was revealed that the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union and the Communications Workers paid MSNBC’s Ed Schultz $190,000 for speaking engagements, which was categorized as “representational activities” by the U.S. Department of Labor. While not much has been made of it except by right-wing reporters, and the Politico website, should the Left question Schultz’s ties?

Cee Lo Sings ‘F-You’ at Obama Fundraiser, Fox News Propaganda Kicks In (VIDEO)

Cee Lo_Obama fundraiser

If a Fox News host starts out by admitting that they have no idea who Cee Lo Green is then that should be your first clue that the opinion they’re about to offer is complete crap. The dips over at the right-wing propaganda machine tried to turn an appearance by the Grammy winner at an Obama fundraiser into something that the president’s supporters should be upset about.

RupertGate Update: James Murdoch’s Rebekah Brooks Arrested — Again

Rupert Murdoch - News Corp.

It’s been a while since we checked in with Rupert-Gate, the phone hacking scandal that many of us hoped might permanently scar the media empire, News Corp, owned by Rupert Murdoch. But there are still some developments taking place.

Journalistic Standards: NPR Takes the Lead on Media Transparency

To say that the media in our country is kind of a mess is a bit of an understatement. Our network news programs are a grand exercise in limited soft-balling and pussy-footing, and our cable news channels have devolved over the years into screaming matches between sides, with hyper-partisan operatives and strategists serving as pseudo-analysts, but who are really only there to argue for their team, right or left.

Brief Moment of Clarity: Bill O’Reilly Defends Ed Schultz (VIDEO)

Either I woke up in the Twilight Zone or Fox News hate monger extraordinaire Bill O’Reilly has had a brief moment of clarity. During his Thursday show, O’Reilly defended MSNBC host Ed Schulz against right-wing calls for his resignation.

From the Extremist Files: How Disgusting is Roger Ailes?

Roger Ailes

Just how disgusting is the head of Fox News? You won’t believe such a creature exists in the world of broadcast news. A new book titled “The Fox Effect” co-authored by Media Maters’ founder David Brock sheds some light on Ailes and the incredible bad influence Fox News has had on American society.

New MSNBC Host: Media Suffers From ‘Premature Speculation’ (VIDEO)

Melissa Harris-Perry

MSNBC’s newest host, Melissa Harris-Perry, hit the ground running Sunday in her debut show when she let loose with a scathing critique of the media coverage of the presidential race, accusing news outlets of suffering from “premature speculation.”

Pat-Buchanan_MSNBC

MSNBC has confirmed that conservative political commentator Pat Buchanan will no longer appear on the news network. The announcement came Thursday following Buchanan’s suspension four months ago after groups complained about racist and anti-semitic language in his book Suicide of a Superpower.

CBS Legitimizes Fringe Media Group

You would think that a group that honors the likes of right-wingnuts Michelle Malkin, Tucker Carlson, and Andrew Breitbart might set off alarm bells in the heads of CBS executives when Accuracy in Media (AIM) bestowed its Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Investigative Journalism Award to Sharyl Attkisson

Shakeup: Fox Business Network Cancels Entire Primetime Lineup (VIDEO)

Judge Napolitano_fired

Fox hate mongers Judge Napolitano and Eric Bolling are very close to going the way of Glenn Beck. In a stunning move over the weekend, Fox Business Network cancelled it’s entire primetime lineup, including shows hosted by Napolitano and Bolling, mainly because the “business” channel had become a laughable (if it’s possible) imitation of Fox News. Media watchdogs have long complained that the level of partisan politics on FBN had completely eclipsed actual business reporting.

The Muppets Fire Back at Fox News (VIDEO)

Muppets Attack Fox News

It took a while, but The Muppets are finally firing back at Fox News for that network’s absurd suggestion that their recent film brainwashed young children against the oil company, big business, and capitalism itself. In the video statement, Kermit responds to Fox’s Eric Boiling’s ridiculous assertion in a dignified manner, while Miss Piggy summarized Boiling’s claim as “almost as laughable as accusing Fox News of being news.”
