DEA Arrests, Forgets College Student for Five Days
Rarely has the DEA failed in such a spectacularly public and unnecessary way as it did last week with the report of a young college student who was picked up in a 4/20 raid and forgotten in a cell for five days. Daniel Chong was left in a cell without a toilet and with no food or water for up to five days after he was initially arrested in a drug raid in San Diego. He was not charged, and had signed papers to be released when he was returned to a ‘temporary’ holding cell, and not intended to hold prisoners overnight. His repeated cries for help went ignored or unheard.
