BREAKING: Turn off the mirror ball and lights. The once and forever Queen of Disco, Donna Summer, died this morning from cancer at the age of 63.

Sadly, the passing of legendary children’s author Maurice Sendak was somewhat overshadowed this week by political nonsense. The prolific author, best known for the “Where the Wild Things Are,” touched generations of children with his “adults are mostly dreadful” attitude and idea that kids could out-wild the wild things.

A Nashville funeral home has confirmed that actor George Lindsey, who played Goober Pyle on “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Hee Haw” for nearly 30 years, has died at the age of 83. The statement simply said that Lindsey had died after a “brief illness” and funeral plans are still being made.

Adam Yauch (MCA) of the Beastie Boys, has died, according to published reports. The official word came through a statement from MCA’s publicist:

Charles ‘Chuck’ Colson, President Nixon’s special counsel, known as the ‘Hatchet Man,” has died at the age of 80. Colson was the first Nixon aide to be sentenced in the Watergate burglary, and served seven months in prison.

Jonathan Frid, who played Barnabas Collins in the classic 60′s cult soap opera, “Dark Shadows,” has died at the age of 87.

Baby Boomers are mourning the loss of a pop icon today with the news that Davy Jones, the former lead singer of the 1960s ‘manufactured’ pop group The Monkees, died after suffering an apparent heart attack. Jones was 66.
