We Serve It, Even When It's Hard To Swallow

Some of what they do will work, some will fail, some will be called unconstitutional, but there is little legislative in-fighting by politicians blaming one another.’

According to published sources, a former Bush administration official, representing the powerful payroll processing industry, is responsible for a letter to House Republicans encouraging them to reject the Senate plan to extend the payroll tax cut for working-class Americans. The letter has now become a major talking point for the Teapublicans in defense of their treasonous acts against average taxpayers.
Just as we’ve seen in the past, the Teapublicans are betting that the pressure of a last-minute deal, that would include sweetheart approvals for Keystone and protecting the 1% tax cuts, will force the president and Democrats to once again buckle under and pay the ransom to squeak out some type of relief for the poor and working-class.
The speaker’s opposition came as a complete surprise to fellow Republicans in the Senate, who overwhelmingly supported the bill, and after Boehner had privately praised the legislation during a reported conference call with members of his own party. But that was before Eric Cantor and his fellow Teapublicans voiced their opposition.
Mitt Romney is a permanent member of what I like to call Darwin’s Workshop. He is always evolving, and that makes it difficult to pinpoint his positions on anything. He changes positions like people change their underwear (daily). However, one thing is certain. As he makes his presidential run in 2012, Mitt Romney is not a progressive in any sense of the word.
Congress and the U.S. Education Department are scrutinizing for-profit colleges, which received almost $32 billion in federal grants and loans in the 2009-2010 school year. Students at those schools are defaulting on government loans at higher rates than those who attend nonprofit and public institutions.
When people ask me why these two candidates are so important, my answer is very simple: Both women are true progressives, and that’s what America needs. It’s pretty clear that the present ‘system’ of electing our leaders isn’t going to change any time soon. We’ve made halfhearted attempts at reforming the election process and have basically gotten nowhere.

No one is opposed to young people learning a strong work ethic. It’s a natural part of growing up and proper parenting. But that’s not what Gingrich and his cohorts are referring to. They truly believe that child labor laws should be relaxed or abolished all together in order to create a permanent working class of children.
This is the defining issue of our time. This is a make or break moment for the middle class, and all those who are fighting to get into the middle class. At stake is whether this will be a country where working people can earn enough to raise a family, build a modest savings, own a home, and secure their retirement.

Perhaps these banks are finally realizing that the more you decimate the middle class, the fewer customers you’re going to have who have need of your more than dubious “services.” That 1% is a pretty small group and you can only cannibalize it for so long before it starts to eat away at itself. It’s like inbreeding. Do it enough times, and pretty soon you’re going to have a child with an arm growing out of its forehead.
I honestly don’t know how people like Kyl sleep at night, but then I remember Kyl is simply one liar among many, who has no qualms in misleading his so-called constituents with blatant out-and-out lies – that are entered into the Congressional record, no less.
Right-wing pundits continue to highlight the economy has evidence that Barack Obama cannot possibly win a second term. This talking point is just the latest evidence of out of touch the Republicans and Tea Partiers are with the backbone of the nation. The reality is that while a lot of voters blame Obama for being weak and wishy-washy in standing up to the right, when it comes down to reality, the economy is not the president’s Achilles´ heel.
