We Serve It, Even When It's Hard To Swallow
According to published sources, a former Bush administration official, representing the powerful payroll processing industry, is responsible for a letter to House Republicans encouraging them to reject the Senate plan to extend the payroll tax cut for working-class Americans. The letter has now become a major talking point for the Teapublicans in defense of their treasonous acts against average taxpayers.
The disgraced former House speaker revealed in a phone call with reporters Saturday, that as president, he would throw out entire courts and judges whose decisions he doesn’t agree with or like.
The speaker’s opposition came as a complete surprise to fellow Republicans in the Senate, who overwhelmingly supported the bill, and after Boehner had privately praised the legislation during a reported conference call with members of his own party. But that was before Eric Cantor and his fellow Teapublicans voiced their opposition.
Several hundred demonstrators used a ladder to scale a fence surrounding a vacant lot owned by the Episcopal church near the 9/11 memorial site. But if these protesting American citizens, most out of work and hungry, thought they would find understanding and sanctuary from the church, they were sadly mistaken.
Mitt Romney is a permanent member of what I like to call Darwin’s Workshop. He is always evolving, and that makes it difficult to pinpoint his positions on anything. He changes positions like people change their underwear (daily). However, one thing is certain. As he makes his presidential run in 2012, Mitt Romney is not a progressive in any sense of the word.
It really is kind of disturbing to think that Newt Gingrich is sitting atop the polls in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, because he’s just…bad. He’s ill-tempered, mean-spirited, self-serving, self-aggrandizing, and every word that comes crawling out of his mouth just oozes with contempt and dickishness.
Anonymous message to Wall Street: “We have changed the rules of the game. Growth of the magnitude required to maintain your capital in its present form is no longer possible for you. Your ability to seduce the public has been destroyed. Your survival has long depended on your capacity to suppress the truth of your abuses, and that ability is now gone. We have removed it.”
Congress and the U.S. Education Department are scrutinizing for-profit colleges, which received almost $32 billion in federal grants and loans in the 2009-2010 school year. Students at those schools are defaulting on government loans at higher rates than those who attend nonprofit and public institutions.
Are we talking about the American peoples’ dream of a corruption free government? Or, is this simply the wet dream of the hedge fund managers, the banksters on Wall Street, and people like the Koch brothers who want to abolish every regulation in place for the sake of profits? Is this really an effort to expand democracy, or is this simply another attempt at a corporate coup d’état?
When people ask me why these two candidates are so important, my answer is very simple: Both women are true progressives, and that’s what America needs. It’s pretty clear that the present ‘system’ of electing our leaders isn’t going to change any time soon. We’ve made halfhearted attempts at reforming the election process and have basically gotten nowhere.

Veteran impersonator and Saturday Night Live cast member Darrell Hammond returned to the weekly variety show last night to reprise his spot-on impersonation of bloated billionaire Donald Trump in a spoof on Fox News and Greta Van Susteren, brilliantly played by Kristen Wiig.
No one is opposed to young people learning a strong work ethic. It’s a natural part of growing up and proper parenting. But that’s not what Gingrich and his cohorts are referring to. They truly believe that child labor laws should be relaxed or abolished all together in order to create a permanent working class of children.
“You’ve benefitted from hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars every year, so would you be willing to pee into this cup to prove to Florida taxpayers that you’re not on drugs, that you’re not using that money for drugs?”
