In the aftermath of the public backlash against the whole Komen/Planned Parenthood fiasco, a group of Democratic Senators has launched the campaign “One Million Strong For Women” to battle the constant attempts by conservatives to limit women’s rights regarding reproductive health and related issues.
While the SGK/Planned Parenthood fracas produced a cautiously positive result, news is not so good down in Texas, where a judge upheld the recently passed sonogram law, which requires doctors to perform a medically unnecessary sonogram on women considering abortion, in addition to playing fetal heartbeat sounds and describing the features of the fetus 24 hours before an abortion is performed.
Of course, my first thought was, how many calories are we talking about and will it clog up my arteries? Do I have to limit my fetus intake to a once-a-week type thing, like steak, or should I save it for special occasions and celebrations only – you know, like birthdays and Christmas?
