It is becoming far too frequent it seems to begin a headline with a celebrity name and end it with “cancer.” Today, Robin Gibb, one-third of the Bee Gees recording group of brothers that defined the Disco era and remained active for more than four decades, succumbed to colorectal cancer at the age of 62. Robin leaves his brother Barry as the sole survivor of the group.
Someone in the music industry needs to give this group a job and get them the hell out of this crowded van! Meet Nicki Bluhm and The Gramb who offer this cover of George Michael’s “Faith” in the traveling band’s “Van Sessions.”
Donna’s untimely passing struck a particularly jarring and sobering note with me since she hailed from the Studio One generation of entertainment icons that profoundly influenced my taste in music, particularly Club-Dance. Upon my first listen, as a budding adolescent, I was utterly mesmerized by the tantric hypnotic beat of “I Feel Love.”

No, it’s not a sign of the apocalypse. Cee Lo Green actually joined 80s rocker Daryl Hall (of Hall & Oates) for a duet of “Fuck You.” Daryl’s been inviting singers to his house for a while to perform on his popular web show “Live from Daryl’s House.”
I don’t normally get emotional about celebrity deaths, but I have to say, the passing of Adam Yauch (pronounced yowk), a/k/a MCA of the Beastie Boys, hit me hard, for a lot of reasons. Last year, I lost a very dear friend to cancer, and I know more people now than I ever dreamed I would who have been touched by the evil hand of cancer. When you lose a dear friend at the young age of 60 or you read that a 47-year-old has lost the battle, as is the case with MCA, because of this horrific disease, you get sad at first, you feel helpless, and then you just get pissed off. It’s a disease that is no respecter of persons and it’s like an unbeatable enemy that cannot be defeated, no matter what you throw at it.
Adam Yauch (MCA) of the Beastie Boys, has died, according to published reports. The official word came through a statement from MCA’s publicist:

One of the fastest trending videos online in the past few days is this footage of a very hip dad driving his kids to school. According to the video description, dad and kids have gotten into the routine of singing Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” each morning during the carpool.
We’re unapologetic Star Wars fans here at Veracity Stew. We’ve seen parodies and tributes to the landmark film franchise come and go over the past few years, and while some have enjoyed staying power, most fade into viral video history all too quickly. This new music video from Hot Problems definitely has staying power, and I predict will stand as one of the best musical nods to that galaxy far, far, away.
