We Serve It, Even When It's Hard To Swallow
Jon Stewart used his best Jersey impression last night to address Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s veto of a gay marriage bill passed by the state legislature last week. Stewart went as far as to wonder what it would be like if we were discussing legalizing “fat” marriage instead of same-sex marriage?
So I guess it becomes a game of trying to interpret Stephen’s wishes from his on-air appearances (similar to Newt Gingrich’s recent plea through the press to his Super PAC to pull or correct their recent hit piece on Mitt Romney), like his weekend interview with George Stephanopoulos, where Colbert mentioned something about Queen Isabella, Italy, and the spice routes, which Jon interpreted as a call to blow a wad of money on a meal prepared by top celebrity chef Mario Batali.
One of the more hysterical asides of the Republican circus act, better known as the GOP presidential primary season, is watching the non-Mittens candidates fall all over themselves as they try to take the seemingly intractable, life-size Ken Doll/Human/Alien hybrid down. While no one is thrilled with Mitt Romney, least of all the voters, his competition still can’t seem to topple him.
It really is kind of disturbing to think that Newt Gingrich is sitting atop the polls in the race for the GOP presidential nomination, because he’s just…bad. He’s ill-tempered, mean-spirited, self-serving, self-aggrandizing, and every word that comes crawling out of his mouth just oozes with contempt and dickishness.

Poor Mitt just can’t catch a break, no matter what he does to try to convince the whack-a-doo Republican base that he’s one of them. But the trolls aren’t buying it, and the poor Ken doll is left forever out in the cold, never to be welcomed into the fold.
Rick Perry, the disastrous governor from Texas, who flew into the race with both guns blazing, but who has taken an epic faceplant in the debates and speeches, showcasing with pride his less than stellar intellect – or his impending nervous breakdown – which, let’s be honest, makes for some thoroughly enjoyable and snicker-worthy web viewing. After all, he’s merely George W. 2.0, and we all know how well that worked out.
The Republicans have got to be sweatin’ this one. We’re less than a year away from the 2012 elections now, and the only people they have running are a carnival of freak-a-zoids and one robotic Ken doll sent from outer space to study the humans.
Clinton talks about his “beef with the Tea Party and with the ‘no-compromise ever on taxes, never, never, never’ crowd in Congress,” the bailouts of the financial and automobile industries, and the infighting in government. The conversation then turned to tax cuts and deregulation.
The woman is full of political shit, and she, along with her fellow Bushies, have a helluva a lot to answer for, and just because the troops are coming home from Iraq at the end of the year, that doesn’t absolve them of the horrific responsibility they bear in taking this country down a road that should never have been traveled in the first place.
Herman Cain, the ex-pizza guy, who is now under scrutiny for a settlement that took place after allegations of sexual harassment during Cain’s tenure as a lobbyist for the restaurant industry. But Cain has argued that he never sexually harassed anyone or had to settle any sort of sexual harassment complaint – outside that one, pesky incident.
Jon Stewart challenges Fox News’s legal analyst, Judge Andrew Napolitano, on his narrow and extremist view that government exists “to take away human freedom.” It is the same divisive and ‘politics of selfishness’ that the extremist faction of the Tea Party has mistakenly embraced as their rallying cry.
Lewis Black unloads his unique brand of hostility at indoctrinating America’s children. Adults are exposing young ones to political issues more and more, from Occupy Wall Street on the left to Mike Huckabee on the right. And according to Lewis, Sesame Street’s “starving Muppets” fall somewhere in the middle.
