We Serve It, Even When It's Hard To Swallow

This intelligent bird completes a crude representation of the Rube Goldberg machine similar to the “Mousetrap” board game.

If conservatives were licking their chops at the prospect of African Americans deserting President Obama in droves because of his support for marriage equality they are going to be sorely disappointed. It’s not going to happen.

Gay marriage & the Bible? What th?! — From the brilliant mind of political animator Mark Fiore comes Mr. Dan and Dogboy to discuss traditional marriage, the Bible, and equality.

I am acutely aware of the idiocy and hate-mongering that spews from the extremist side of the religious right in America. They often come in disguise with names like American Family Association or Family Research Council. After all, my ‘people’ have been blamed for everything from Hurricane Katrina to the destruction of the ‘traditional family.’ That’s why I take delight when charlatans like Bryan Fischer fly their idiot banner and do things like this…

Chances are that your news outlet of choice did not show you the image of US Veterans throwing their service medals over a fence in protest of the police crackdowns on Occupy protesters over the past year and America’s continued involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. Among those Veterans was Scott Olsen, the former U.S. Marine who was shot in the face by a police tear gas canister during an Occupy protest in Oakland last October.

In a capitalist economy, the true job creators are middle class consumers and taxing the rich to make investments that make the middle class grow and thrive is the single shrewdest thing we can do for the middle class, for the poor, and for the rich.

It is becoming far too frequent it seems to begin a headline with a celebrity name and end it with “cancer.” Today, Robin Gibb, one-third of the Bee Gees recording group of brothers that defined the Disco era and remained active for more than four decades, succumbed to colorectal cancer at the age of 62. I try to stay away from what I like to call ‘The Rant.’ I also try not to verbally assail people that make their living in the pop culture limelight. But some people just piss me off and are so deserving of that treatment that I cannot deny myself the occasional pleasure. So, it’s treat time and the subject of today’s rant is Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

Mitt Romney delivers his stump speech after stump speech as he crisscrosses America, taking aim at “the sorry state of the US economy” and “Barack Obama’s failure to provide jobs.” Republican governors, with report after report of “hundreds of thousands of available jobs” in their respective states, are seriously undermining his message.

James O’Keefe’s current pet project is attempting to prove that voter fraud is running amok. O’Keefe ambushed two people: Zbigniew Gorzkowski by telephone, and William Romero with a video camera, both of whom O’Keefe stated were non-citizens voting illegally in elections. Problem is, both of them are citizens, and O’Keefe, as usual, is full of shit.

Donna’s untimely passing struck a particularly jarring and sobering note with me since she hailed from the Studio One generation of entertainment icons that profoundly influenced my taste in music, particularly Club-Dance. Upon my first listen, as a budding adolescent, I was utterly mesmerized by the tantric hypnotic beat of “I Feel Love.”

Elaine Bouschard and her grandson, Taylor Callaway, of Los Banos, California, have added a new puppy to their farm’s mix of animals and pets after the tiny pup dropped from the sky after a Hawk released it in mid-flight.
